Supporting the communities within which we work

At IPC, we built IPC Cares to bring together the various efforts we make towards enhancing the communities within which we operate. By adopting causes that are close to our hearts, we keep ourselves committed and accountable.

Last year alone, as a company, we supported the aid efforts on the Fort McMurray fires, palliative care through The Healing Cycle Foundation and women and children through The Salvation Army.

Perhaps the most significant effort we undertake, and one that we believe is representative of the kind of work that inspires and keeps us committed to our CSR efforts, is the community development project in Honduras with The Carpenteros & Friends. Last year’s project involved a group of IPC staff and Advisors volunteering their time and energy on the ground. Very little is as inspiring and rewarding as living the lives of the people you’re helping, and every one of the people who took the journey came back a changed person, even more determined to stay committed to making a difference in the world!

We also made countless small but significant contributions of our time and resources within our communities through many grassroots charities we believe in, and the ripple effect of their efforts are always rewarding.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB) is a national, non-profit, charitable organization and has provided professionally trained guide dogs to visually impaired Canadians from coast to coast since 1984, and assistance dogs to individuals with mobility-related disabilities in the Ottawa area since 2010.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind operates solely through donations and fundraising initiatives, including the Dollars for Dogs Fundraising Walk each spring.

Riley, a chocolate brown poodle greets clients with enthusiasm, at Innovex Financial Services, while Owen, the first foster pup has moved on to the next stages of his formal training. For Bev and Gord, it is a great satisfaction to be able to take part in the “puppy-walking” (foster) program assisting visually-impaired Canadians with their mobility.

Horizons of Friendship is a federally-registered non-profit organization located in Cobourg, Ontario. They are committed to eliminating the root causes of poverty and injustice in Central America and Southern Mexico (Mesoamerica) through the cooperation of people from the South and North. To do this, they work with local partner organizations that undertake local initiatives that further this goal in the grassroots programs of sustainable development, education and rights promotion.
In Canada, they raise awareness on global issues and work with Canadian organizations at the local and national levels to bring about positive and lasting change. Founded by Father Timothy Coughlan, Christine and the late David Stewart as a result of their volunteer experience in Honduras, Horizons of Friendship was incorporated as a charitable organization in 1973.

We Let You Loan to Low Income Entrepreneurs
Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe.

The people you see on their website are real individuals. When you browse their profiles on Kiva, choose someone to lend to and then make a loan, you are helping a real person to make great strides to economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family and their community.
Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6 - 12 months), you can receive e-mail journal updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back you can re-lend to someone else!
